Thursday night I went with my sister and a friend to a Death Cab for Cutie concert at the Verizon Amphitheater. It was by far the best concert I have ever been to, although it didn’t have a whole lot of competition. The last concert I went to was a Toby Mac concert with my old youth group. But that aside, this concert was great. The opener was Frightened Rabbit; a Scottish band I hadn’t heard before. They were pretty good. They played for an hour, and in-between songs they threw cookies in the crowd and saved ‘cheers’ to everything. Cheers to the audience, cheers to ‘that great children’s charity’ (I don’t know if that’s what it really was, he had a very thick accent).Death Cab for Cutie came out at about nine. As luck would have it, they started out with one of my favorite songs, but the really amazing thing was the lead singer. (lead singers birthday) They played most of my favorites as well as a few I hadn’t heard before. After one of the songs though, the lead singer stopped and said. “Okay, I’ve been wanting to ask this since the beginning of the concert. Shirtless guy, are you wearing pants? Show of hands please, if you can see that he is wearing pants.” For the record, he was.
